Alt + becomes Escad: 5 questions to Marie Pier Germain

On the eve of celebrating its second anniversary, the Alt+ Hotel rebrands itself and becomes Escad Hotel.

A new name, but the same comfortable rooms you have come to love and the same trusted hotel group, Germain Hôtels.

In order to answer all your questions about this notable change, who better than Marie Pier Germain, regional director and director of hotel design, to answer them?

Escad Hotels

Can you explain this rebranding?

Since its opening two years ago, we have witnessed the great success of the Escad Hotel Quartier DIX30 (formerly Alt+ Hotel Quartier DIX30) and we are convinced that there is a lot of potential for this banner across Canada. We had imagined and created the concept of this hotel so that it would be very different from our other hotels. The time had come to give it a name that clearly evokes its unique personality and distinctive offer, which are very different from our existing banners: Le Germain and Alt.

What does Escad means?

We wanted a name that would truly describe the unique experience that our guests can be part of during their stay at this hotel. A simple and modern name. With its loft-style rooms, its friendly lobby and its lively bar, Escad invites guests to experience an urban Canadian getaway (or in French, an ‘’escapade canadienne’’).

What sets Escad apart from other hotels?

So many things! As mentioned earlier, Escad offers a unique experience. First, our rooms are like bright, airy lofts with several unique amenities (kitchenette, exposed wardrobe inviting us to settle down, a versatile office-dining table). Then, Bar Les Cousins is the lively bar where our guests and the locals can have a drink and a few bites. On the mezzanine, we created inviting collaborative workspaces so everyone can come to work on projects by themselves or with teammates. These are some of the things that allow guests to experience the warmth and excitement of the neighborhood life in which we build our hotels. Everyone is invited to use our spaces, whether you are staying with us or not. This is how you meet new people!

What is next for the Escad brand?

Oh! (Laughs) Let's just say that this banner is full of potential and that its future is very exciting! Stay tuned, who knows where the next Canadian getaway and its Escad Hotel could be?

What is an ideal getaway at the Escad Hotel Quartier DIX30?

Drop off your bags, settle down a bit, hang up on a few things and go explore the neighborhood and its fantastic shops. Stop for coffee and meet the people who live in the neighborhood. Have a bite at Brasserie T to have a taste of local gastronomy and then meet new people at Bar les Cousins. A stay at the Escad Hotel Quartier DIX30, for me, is contributing to neighborhood life for a few hours or a few days, like a fleeting citizen.
