Le Germain x romeo’s : the creation of a work of art

The short story of a great collaboration.

Some collaborations you do just for fun. You do them for the pleasure of working with a company you admire. The relationship between Le Germain Hotels and romeo's gin came about naturally, between two Quebec companies eager to produce an exceptional product. Two companies who appreciate beauty, art and the good things in life.

That’s why, a few months ago, the teams from Le Germain Hotels and romeo's Gin met to see how we could work together and unite our two brands in creating something beautiful. Like Romeo's Gin, Group Germain Hotels is a lover of art (each of our properties attaches great importance to artwork). It was clear that we had to put together a project that emphasized this shared value and highlight the art and artists that are right here in front of us.

The project? Create a bottle of Romeo's gin exclusive to Le Germain Hotels, with artwork created just for us.

Since we wanted to celebrate the opening of Le Germain Hotel Ottawa in particular, we called upon Julie Couture, who created the artwork in the hotel rooms as well as the grand work of art in the lobby. To give Julie's work the "street art" touch of a Romeo's Gin bottle, we reached out to muralist and Ottawa artist Ryan Smeeton. Together, with a layering technique, Julie and Ryan worked on a unique piece of art, which they named Emerald City.

"THIS COLLABORATION WAS SUCCESSFUL, DUE TO THE UNDENIABLY GREAT CHEMISTRY BETWEEN 2 STRANGERS WORKING TOWARDS A COMMON PROJECT." - JULIE COUTURE

THE CREATION OF THE WORK IN PICTURES

"THIS WAS A WONDERFUL PROJECT TO BE A PART OF. FOR ME, HAVING THE CHANCE TO COLLABORATE WITH JULIE AND FIND CREATIVE WAYS TO MERGE MY PAINTINGS WITH HER PHOTOGRAPHS WAS AN INCREDIBLY VALUABLE EXPERIENCE." - RYAN SMEETON
