Concierge Saskatoon: Winter 2020

Our best addresses in town!

By Shel Zolkewich

Inspiring Remai

Get your mind swirling with artistic possibilities at Remai Modern, Saskatoon’s architecturally alluring gallery on the shores of the
South Saskatchewan River. Peruse Pablo Picasso Anatomy of a Still Life (on until April 2020), then grab a seat at in-house restaurant
Shift for chickpea fries and smoked whitefish on toast.

Saskatoon’s cheers!

Partners Shawn Moen and Garrett Pederson come from Saskatchewan families whose homesteads were nine miles apart and that’s how 9 Mile Legacy Brewing Company was born. Settle into the taproom for a revolving menu of brews including Straight Cut Kettle Sour, Bootstrapper Spring Wheat, and Saskatoon Berry Blonde.

Asian stars

Canadian Asian favourites including Tiger Shrimp Shanghai and Bacon Fried Rice make Odd Couple a deliciously fun addition to Saskatoon’s sizzling food scene. The Yuen family brings Hong Kong techniques to the Saskatchewan table with soups, snacks, and shareable plates.

Local logo

Saskatchewan pride is on display with iconic sheaves of wheat, the provincial flower, and giggle-worthy “We See Forever” printed in-house on t-shirts, hoodies, and hats at Hardpressed Design. The shop also stocks noteworthy brands including Carhartt, Pistola, and Woolrich.

Canadian tea time

High tea is served every Sunday at Little Bird Pâtisserie & Café. Savoury bites include cucumber with dill cream and hibiscus salt on brioche. Sweet ones include lemon lavender shortbread. The art-adorned café also serves soups, salads, and sandwiches.
