Germain Hôtels is a family-owned business built on three generations of expertise. Thanks to the support of our loyal clientele, our dedicated 1,500-member staff, and our solid management team, the company continues to thrive and expand.

Christiane Germain, Co-President

As Co-President of Germain Hôtels, Christiane Germain oversees operations and marketing for all of the group’s properties. Dynamic, tenacious, and inventive, her entrepreneurial qualities have been honoured on several occasions by Canada’s business and tourism communities. After over 30 years in the industry, Christiane is especially proud to be able to offer career opportunities to people who share the values of the Germain Hôtels family.

Committed to the economic vitality of the country, Christiane attaches great importance to the development of Canadian talent, which she supports particularly through the local procurement policy implemented by the group. In addition to presiding over a growing business, Christiane Germain is chair of the board of directors of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and is involved in supporting numerous charities.

Jean-Yves Germain, Co-President

Jean-Yves is co-president of Germain Hôtels. Trained at the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) and gifted with a keen business sense, he oversees development, orchestrates financing and supervises the construction of all hotels.

Jean-Yves began his career in the restaurant industry. It was there where he first tried his hand at raising capital. Since then, he has mastered the structuration of investment funds and financial strategies for the company’s hotel developments. Germain Hôtels, whose finances he personally manages, is ranked among the 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada thanks to its economic and financial health.

Alongside his career as a hotelier, Jean-Yves is president of Casot Limited, a company based in Québec City that owns and operates a number of commercial and residential properties. He also sits on a number of boards of directors and is active in several charities in his community.

Hugo Germain, Director of Development

Armed with experience in business development in the retail trade and an MBA from Queen’s University, Hugo officially joined Germain Hôtels’ operations in 2006.

Involved from the outset in the development of the Alt concept, Hugo actively participated in the design, construction, start-up and operations of the first Alt property and held the position of General Manager of Alt Hotel Quartier DIX30 in its first year of operation. He is committed to making the banner a leader in its field in Canada.

Hugo is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Horizon Charlevoix. He is also a member of the boards of directors of the Séminaire Saint-François and its Foundation, as well as the Festival d’été de Québec since 2013.

Marie Pier Germain, Director of Operations

A graduate of Queen’s University in Mechanical Engineering with a Master’s Degree from the McGill-HEC EMBA program, Marie Pier has been an active member of the family business since 2006. She began her career in Calgary during construction of Le Germain Hotel real estate complex, managing office space rentals and acting as a senior consultant to the residence sales team. Her natural flair for customer service proved to be a real asset. In the years that followed, she went on to manage the team of architects, designers, and engineers responsible for the construction and renovation of the company’s hotels before taking the helm of Alt Hotel Montreal in 2016 as General Manager.

Today, as Director of Operations, she manages all properties in the greater Montreal region in addition to overseeing the architecture and design of hotels under construction. Always in search of adventure, Marie Pier has travelled around the world and speaks five languages. She is also the proud mother of two children.

Didier Obeuf, Vice-President, Operations

With 35 years of international experience and in-depth knowledge of the hotel industry, Didier manages the daily operations of Le Germain Hotels, Escad Hotels and Alt Hotels.

Born in the south of France, Didier came to discover the world of hospitality in prestigious establishments in Paris and Monte Carlo. Over the course of his career, he spent more than twenty years working for the Accor Group. He settled in Canada in 1987 and was the Vice-President of Operations for subsidiary Accor Canada, from 1997 to 2006.

In 2007, Groupe Danone entrusted him with the general management of Evian Royal Resort but nostalgia for his adopted country made him decide to return to Canada to manage Fairmont hotels in Ontario and Quebec with the Westmont Group.

Didier holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a graduate of the Executive Program at Cornell University. He has been involved with a number of boards and organizations, including as an adviser to the international trade ministry of France, and as a member of the Board of Directors for Ryerson University and the Théâtre français in Toronto. Passionate about golf and nature, Didier loves to cook and like many hoteliers, he appreciates fine wine! The members of his team often speak of his pragmatism and joie de vivre. In his opinion, a company’s values and its human capital are its main strengths.

Annie Landry, Vice-President, Finance and Administration

Over the past 15 years, Annie Landry has actively contributed to the growth of Germain Hôtels and Casot ltée. Leading a team of more than 30 people, Annie oversees budgets, construction costs and monthly payments. She is also responsible for all legal aspects and the financing of construction projects. Her commitment to building sound financial investments sustains the company’s steady growth.

A graduate of Laval University and a member of the Ordre des CPA du Québec, Annie started her career in the financial advisory service of Samson, Bélair/Deloitte & Touche, in Quebec City. She then worked for Exfo Ingénierie Electro-Optique and for Siemens – Technologies du bâtiment inc. As a financial controller, she developed strong change-management skills and became proficient in systems and process implementation on an international scale.

Annie is the mother of two sporty teenagers, and an active member of her community.

Monique Strouvens, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing

Monique is passionate about the trends and new technologies that shape the travel industry. Her 30 years of experience in the hotel industry, with 15 years specializing in sales and marketing, distribution, and in e-commerce, make her a born leader. A tourism graduate, she joined Germain Hôtels in 2017 as Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, an ideal opportunity to put her expertise into practise at a rapidly growing company. Her keen interest in design and gastronomy are a natural fit for the brands that she is responsible for. Monique enjoys spending time with her son and unplugging in the fresh air of the countryside in her free time.
