Group Germain Hotels invests in the transformation of Le Germain Hotel Montreal

Quebec hotelier Group Germain Hotels is pleased to announce renovations to its Le Germain Hotel located in downtown Montreal. This $20 million investment will allow the Group to offer visitors a hotel experience that is perfectly in line with guests’ needs, while embodying the latest trends in terms of design and amenities.

“This major transformation will allow Le Germain Hotel Montreal to enhance the experience of our guests, in addition to allowing us to remain competitive in the face of the tremendous growth we are currently witnessing in the hotel industry in Montreal," said Christiane Germain, co-founder and co-president of Group Germain Hotels. “We are pleased to be investing in this property, which was, at the time of its opening in 1999, the first boutique hotel in Montreal.”

The project will include work to both the exterior of the building and the interior of the hotel. Envisioned by Montreal architecture firm LEMAYMICHAUD Design Architecture, the new version of Le Germain Hotel Montreal will feature a façade complete with a splendid outside marquee while the lobby, restaurant and bar will also be completely refurbished. As the building was constructed in 1967, the revitalization of the rooms will be inspired by the seventies as a tribute to this iconic period. New meeting rooms will be introduced and the fitness room will move to a higher floor in order to give guests a superb view of the city during their workout sessions.

Tourisme Montréal’s president and CEO applauded Group Germain Hotels, a leader in Quebec’s hospitality industry, for their commitment to offering tourists an unforgettable experience. “This major renovation project is excellent news. Not only does it improve downtown Montréal’s tourist product, it also enhances the quality of the hospitality extended to visitors,” said Yves Lalumière.

“Le Germain Hotels no longer need presentation, they are a Quebec and Canadian pride,” adds Mario Bédard, Vice President of Real Estate Investments at Industrial Alliance. “It is an honor to count them among our neighbors and this rejuvenation will certainly contribute to the prestige of Mansfield Street on which we are also located. The presence of Le Germain Hotel brings an important value to the district and we support them in this exciting project.”

As a result of the major work to be carried out on the interior and exterior of the building, the hotel on Mansfield Street will close in October 2018 and reopen in May 2019, just in time to welcome visitors for the summer season.
