Getting Around Toronto
From September 10 to 20, TIFF brings a different rhythm to downtown Toronto. With Festival Street taking over part of King Street West, a few closures and transit changes are worth keeping in mind.
Traffic and Access
King Street West will be closed to vehicle traffic between Spadina Avenue and University Avenue from 5 a.m. on September 10 until 5 a.m. on September 14.
Rideshares and taxis won’t be able to travel along this section of King Street. Plan your pick-up or drop-off just outside the closure.
Around TIFF Bell Lightbox, Roy Thomson Hall and the Princess of Wales Theatre, expect additional lane restrictions and occasional delays, particularly during red-carpet events.
Public Transit
The 504 King streetcar will be diverted around the Festival Street closure. The 508 Lake Shore and 503 Kingston Road may also experience temporary diversions and service adjustments during opening weekend.
For east-west travel, the 501 Queen streetcar is a convenient alternative, just a short walk north.
The Festival Beyond the Screen

Festival Street
From September 10 to 14, between Spadina Avenue and University Avenue, King Street West becomes Festival Street, a pedestrian hub with free entertainment, immersive activities, food, art and, of course, cinema.
The Red Carpet
For a chance to catch some of TIFF’s most anticipated arrivals, make your way to Roy Thomson Hall (60 Simcoe St.) or TIFF Lightbox (350 King St. W.). Both are within walking distance of the hotel, simply step outside and follow the energy.
