Montérégie : the gourmet

Romantic, family-oriented, athletic, epicurean: go ahead and pick your own theme!

By Annie Lafrance

Two steps away from the big city, the Montérégie region invites you to explore its many sides and experience an unforgetable escape that matches everyone’s tastes.

There’s so much to do and see in the region. If you are like us, to eat local is an unparalleled pleasure. Nicknamed “Québec’s garden”, the Montérégie region is host to a great number of agrifood producers. From picking your own fruit in an orchard, to cider houses, wineries, and shops offering local gourmet wares, the variety is nothing less than mouth-watering. Follow one of the agritourism routes (cider or wine routes, the countryman’s tour: all are delicious and captivating); get to know passionate artisans and taste exceptional products. You won’t be disappointed!

The Richelieu Route, the first official tourist route along the Québec and New York State border packs a punch with its rural and shoreline landscapes. It’s time to take your camera and take that awesome Instagram-worthy picture.

Are you more of an urbanite? The Quartier DIX30 is the ideal place for shopping, entertainment, and going out with friends or family. Many unique activities, from Oasis surf to escape games and Bfly’s incredible butterfly conservatory, are offered in the region. Good laughs are guaranteed!

ESSENTIAL TO BRING BACK

Michel Jodoin cider, a bottle of Riesling from Domaine St-Jacques, which you picked up on the Wine Route, and maple products from Sucrerie de la montagne.
