Concierge Québec : Winter 2020

Our best adresses in town!

By Annie Lafrance

Shining its light

At last! After nearly two decades of anticipation, Robert Lepage has accomplished his dream of opening a show venue in the heart of Québec City.
The sophisticated yet welcoming Diamant, in Place D’Youville, is open to the public as of September. The venue promises to shine, like a diamond,
for many years to come.

Feet on the ground

Feel like taking a walk in the Petit-Champlain neighbourhood? Step into the only Fluchos boutique in Canada while you’re there and (oh, why not?) treat yourself to a pair of gorgeous shoes made in Spain with natural, environmentally friendly materials.

Abundance

There’s abundance all year long at the Grand Marché de Québec. Vibrant, welcoming, and bathed in light, there’s good reason the market is always bustling. With seasonal vegetables, small servings of sweet delights, drinks, artisanal charcuterie, and more, you’ll come away with your arms—and your belly—full!

Like sardines…

Sardines is Buvette Scott restaurant’s little brother. Although it’s narrow, the unpretentious establishment is not lacking in charm or flavour. Cocktail hour stretches out with small seasonal tasting plates, charcuterie, sourdough bread, and sardines, of course.

Playful

Ever since the 1960s, the Québécois COZIC duo has been transforming unusual materials into illuminated perspectives on their environment. The first museum retrospective dedicated to their work is being shown at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec until January 5, 2020.

Veganattitude

The Don is worlds away from a hippie health bar. Nestled in the Old Port, the capital city’s first entirely vegan restaurant sets the bar sky-high with its refreshing, delicious meals that are free of all animal products. Of special note: the generous pasta dishes concocted by Chef Anne-Marie Grenier.
